WILL YOUR WAY TO VICTORY

Dear friend,

You can succeed in anything if only you put your heart and soul into it. You must set yourself doggedly to it and keep working for it till the end. You must have a burning single-minded desire for that object. You must have the firm determination and steely nerve to win at any cost. You must also have the patience and perseverance to persist against all odds and obstacles. Above all you should display the ability, will power and stamina to put in sustain hard work.

There is no shortcut to success. Neither can success come slowly through luck or good fortune. Pluck more than luck is essential for success. Since fortune favours the brave and not the fickle minded. In a nutshell there is only one way to achieve success and that is handwork performed as per well-conceived and imaginative plan.

If you start walking or riding or driving without knowing your destination, you will be only going round in circles reaching nowhere and wasting your energy, time and other resources. When you are sure about your destination, you will also know why you want to go there, when you want to go there and how you want to go there. If you are clear of the answers to the Where, WHY and HOW, the chances of your making it are near hundred percent. In the same way, the beginning is of making the life you want deciding what you want to be. This is the first step in making success of your life. Decide where you want to go and get going. Decide what you wand to be and start working for it. Make your decision once and for all. Look your yield over. Consider different possibilities. Examine the options.

Finally, set your face to your chosen goal & do not let you eyes and mind wonder. Work with concentration & enthusiasm.

Can India Produce Olympic Gold Medallists?

The Olympics, the event which the whole world is familiar with. Many countries participate in Olympics and many of them win gold medals but many of them don't, India is one of them. This doesn't mean Indians are unable to win. India is a vast country with different kinds of people knowing different kinds of art. We Indians have great potentials in us but still we are not able to win Olympic Golds. India can score gold medals if there would have been more interest in Olympics.

Indians have great capabilities in them, but the culprit is there is no craze for international level games. One of the ways to increase this craze is to form institutions which will produce good sports men .For example, instead of Fame Gurukul which is now a days very popular in India there could have been Game Gurukul which will train and select our future sportsmen. But this is not enough. The player should also be given good coaches, proper training, proper equipments. By this effort, India will have the maximum number of sportsmen for the next Olympics and India can also become the country scoring the maximum number of Gold Medals. So what we need to do is nurture the Indian talents. Polish it with proper training and put it before the world. This will ensure the increase of the gold medallists in India.

Laughter is the Best Medicine Therefore laugh a little

Laughter has always been considered the bets medicine for drudgery and melancholy. I t is an indispensable part of our daily life. It reflects a healthy mind and body. Without a sense of humour, life could be unbearable.

It is not just a heart-warming phenomenon. It has lot to do with one's attitude. We laugh at something because it is familiar or because it is unfamiliar. We laugh at misfortunes if they do not incur danger. We laugh when someone who cracks a joke. But controlled or calculated laughter on the other hand and drive our own smiles underground for hours. We laugh to share other's laughter. We laugh to show that we are happy on a particular moment then there is laughter, which fills up the silence in the conversation, they laugh to attract attention.

Laughter is a conspicuous example of expressive behaviour. Give yourself a chance everyday to a hearty laugh possible. Be cheerful. Burst out with laughter. Always be happy even when circumstances are not in your favour.

Now hope that you will laugh a little with me if not more, as it is expected of you on the different interpretations of following words:

IS COMPUTERISATION NECESSERY?

At the turn of the century, when the millennium is almost on the horizon, we look back at the progress man has made both in technology and in attitude the major part of his prosperity is contributed by the most wondrous invention of man – “The computer” it is indeed surprising how on a small electronic chip, which forms the brain of the computer, stores so much of information and knowledge. In the field of information and technology, computer is equally important food, shelter and clothes. It makes banking, issuing tickets, keeping accounts, designing and planning large-scale projects much simple. Also it becomes a teaching aid for the children at the touch of the button you can access oceans and oceans of information and data. If this happens, weather machine will rules over us, … the questions still remain. But till then, all we can hope for is that the ‘Computer' ushers mankind to glory.

Danny

Danny could feel the blood trickling down his face. He had just been beaten up.. again!!

Danny Miller wasn't exactly what anyone would call poor, but he wasn't very well off. He had been living in a boarding for as long he could remember. He was every bully's scapegoat. If someone felt like fighting; it was Danny who got beaten up, if anything went wrong, it was Danny who was held responsible. Everywhere he went, he was sneered at. Every friend he tried to make, pushed him away.

He would sit alone & watch the other boarders enjoying their ice creams & other snacks they bought with the extra pocket money they received from their parents. The little money he got was always stolen or forcefully taken from him.

After getting beaten up he walked away quietly, trying not to get into any more trouble. Suddenly he heard footsteps, they grew louder & louder & what he saw made him tremble with fear. William, the tall, dark, hefty, heavy weight boxing champion whom everyone feared had joined the bullies who had just beaten him up & was trying to get at him. “Not again”, he thought to himself as he broke into a run. While he was running he glanced over his shoulder again & saw that his pursuers were gaining on him. He ran for his life, he could feel the adrenaline flowing through his body. His long legs helped him to get away & he ducked into the janitor's closet. After what seemed like forever, he noiselessly made his way back to his dorm. By now he was exhausted & as soon as he sank into his bed he was fast asleep. By the next day everyone had forgotten about the incident & everything went back to normal.

The years rolled on & Danny's plight worsened. He was now in his late teens & his parents had passed away in a plane crash. His grades were slipping & eventually he dropped out of college. He fell into bad company .He repeatedly got into trouble with the police and was sentenced to two years in state prison when he was charged for armed robbery. At the time

Of the inquiry one of the policemen asked, “Were you carrying a gun?”

“No,” he replied, “I was carrying a chain.” When the policeman ask him why, “Because I couldn't find gun,” was his reply…

……About a year into his sentenced, Danny was walking back to his cell when he slipped and severely injured his head. As he felt life draining out of his body he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he found himself lying comfortably in his cell being nursed back to health by an inmate. He could scarcely speak, he weakly asked the man sitting beside him “Wh….who are you ?” “My name's Mark,” the man replied. Then Danny said, “Thanks for saving my life” “Just make sure you' re life was worth saving,” said Mark.

Danny and Mark became good friends. When Danny completed his sentences he bade goodbye to Mark and promised to see him again.

Mark didn't hear from Danny for a long time. One day he received a note that read:

Dear Mark,

I'm sorry I didn't contact you for so long; I had a hard time tracing your whereabouts. I have gone back to college and I wanted you to be the first to know that I will be graduating second in my class.

Love,

Danny,

Four years later, another note came:

Dear Mark,

They just told me I'd graduating first in my class. I wanted you to be the first to know. The university hasn't been easy but I liked it.

Love,

Danny.

And four years later:

Dear Mark,

As of today I am Danny Miller, M.D. How about that? I'm getting married next month, the 14 th to be exact. It would be a great honour if you could come.

Love,

Danny.

And Mark went for Danny's wedding and proudly watched his best friend getting married.

 ART  OF  BUNKING

                                                                by- Ranjan Dixit, XII  A

I think there isn’t any need to say what Bunking means  But you will  feel strange  to know that bunking is also a kind of art which is  unfortunately  not  uniformly distributed among the mob.  No doubt it requires a lot of courage and guts but the art and  desire within a student is affected by the strictness of rules /regulations of the school.  Hence  the practice  continues.

A general opinion towards the matter is that it is not a bad practice.  Every student has a wish, at least to experience it once. Courageous are those who follow the practice, but bad luck to those who have never experienced it.

Bunking can be classified into three types. The first is individual, the second is group and last is mass bunking. Individual and group bunking requires mental preparation as well as physical (in case you’re caught).  Few are the students who really take the risk but to be on the safer side, mass-bunking is the best one. At least you are among your friends.

From a grown up’s view, bunking can be considered to be a wrong practice but from an ordinary student’s point of view, it is an easy but  tricky way of escaping from the boring and bouncing ( sometimes intolerable ) lectures of teachers.
